Rahul(Mohanlal) is a famous theatre artist who, while showing his acting skills to public, has started to get addicted to alcohol.He changes his stage name to Niram after the "Niramilla" incident. The story happens in a village called Meppadi, near Calicut. Shaanthi (Shobhana) is a young girl living in her father's house after her brother's death. She loves stories and cinema very much and dreams of becoming an actress someday. Although she gets married, she still desires her dream of becoming an actress. Rahul meets Ramesh (Nedumudi Venu), a dancing artist, who teaches him how to dance gracefully. Before long, Rahul falls in love with her. He has never before got married and doesn't want to get married. After finding out that the girl likes him, he goes to her house and tells her that he loves her and would like them to be together but she refuses saying that there is someone else and if he wants their relationship will end forever.
